History of the Turkish Angora
The Turkish Angora cat came from the high levels of Turkey. Descriptions of this breed go back to the late Middle Ages. For centuries, caravans merchandise from China in the Middle East and transported in the 16th Century, the goods were also shipped further to Italy, France and England.
The trade brought people from Asia Minor some long-haired white cats. These had narrow heads, large ears, blue eyes and long straight noses. In short, there were Turkish Angora. Only later was this the Persians Angora cat with round heads and short nose bred.
The Persians became very popular in a short time. This is partly to the floor today Angora means the same as Persians.
